COVID Announcements

Facility Capacity Update:
November 2, 2020

The Native Village of Port Lions office is currently open to the public with, a maximum of 20 people at one time in the facility (including staff).  We welcome you to enter and access free Wi-Fi at the Tribal Library during regular business hours (M-F 8AM-5PM).  Please be respectful of social distancing, wash and sanitize your hands frequently, and we encourage face coverings.

COVID Emergency Assitance
November 2, 2020

If you are a NVPL Tribal Member residing outside of the village of Port Lions, there is emergency assistance available to you.  An application was mailed to the address we have on file. If you have not received your application, please contact the office during regular business hours to speak with our Family Services Department to verify your mailing addresses or email covidemergencyresponse@portlionstribe.org to request an application.  Completed applications can be submitted via fax, email, or mail. Applications must be received by November 15, 2020.

Who Is Eligible?
All persons who are descendants of any Alaska Native or Alaska Indian blood, or combination thereof, may be considered for membership within the Native Village of Port Lions Tribe if he or she is a direct lineal descendant of a member whose name appears on the official base roll, or is adopted as a member of the organization by the Port Lions Traditional Tribal Council with a roll-call vote of no fewer than five council members.

Enrollment Benefits
As an enrolled member of the Tribe, you are eligible for our Rhea Mae Knagin Scholarship , Youth Enhancement Scholarship , BIA Education Funds, Medical and Dental through Indian Health Services , resources and support in ICWA cases or foster parenting, housing through Kodiak Island Housing Authority , and burial assistance.
